Do you need help with your nutrition but not sure where to start? Our Registered Dietitian works with kids, parents, adults, and athletes of all backgrounds and abilities to help achieve nutrition and optimize their health and performance.

About  Claire

Claire Kjeld is the Registered Dietitian at Alberta Therapy Co. Claire has worked as a Registered Dietitian since 2006, both in the United States and Canada, in a variety of settings including primary care, health and wellness, sports, pediatric and clinical nutrition. Claire brings a breadth of knowledge, experience, and practical recommendations to her clients. 

Claire works with families who have children with feeding and nutrition challenges due to medical conditions, special needs, limited food repertoire, picky eating, feeding related trauma, and food sensitivities and allergies.

Claire works with adults on any health related concern including weight management, diabetes, high cholesterol and triglycerides, and gastrointestinal concerns. 

Claire works with sports teams and athletes to educate on nutrition needs for their specific sport, and provides practical recommendations to enhance sports performance for themselves and/or their team.   

Being able to develop trusting relationships with her clients is the back bone of Claire’s practice. Claire is available to provide nutrition analysis, supplement assessment, metabolic rate testing, feeding therapy, meal time observations, nutrition workshops, and athlete/team nutrition coaching. Appointments are available in-office, online, in-home, and within team sport facility.

All About Sports Nutrition

This service includes consultation on any nutrition or feeding related topic you are in need of assistance with. Common concerns are constipation, food allergies or intolerances, nutrient deficiencies, specialty diets, help with meal planning and structuring daily meals and snacks, coaching on how to address meal time struggles, concerns related to growth (underweight, overweight, stagnant growth).

A written consult note is provided after the session to review what was discussed and recommendations given.
Pediatric Services

Adult Services

This service includes consultation on any nutrition related topic you are in need of assistance with. Common concerns are gastrointestinal concerns, nutrition for heart health, nutrition for diabetes, food allergies or intolerances, nutrient deficiencies such as low iron or calcium, gout, help with meal planning and structuring daily meals and snacks, sports nutrition, concerns related to weight (underweight, overweight, stagnant weight).

A written consult note is provided after the session to review what was discussed and recommendations given.

Do you wonder if your child is meeting their nutrition needs?  Do you wonder what, if any supplements, they would benefit from to fill the nutrient gaps in their diet? This service will identify what nutrient needs they are and aren't meeting and whether or not and what type of supplementation is recommended.

 

This service requires a consultation with Claire to review the findings and recommendations upon Completion of a 3-day food journal. Upon booking, you will be sent a template for the food journal to fill in and submit to Claire once completed. This must be completed and submitted, a minimum of 3 days prior to a booked appointment. 

A written consult note is provided after the session to review what was discussed and recommendations given.

Adult Diet Analysis

1-hour Joint Nutrition and Feeding Consultation with Feeding Team (Dietitian/OT)

This service includes an in-depth assessment of nutrition and feeding related concerns, combining the expertise of a Dietitian and Occupational Therapist. Specialists will review and address nutrition and feeding concerns, including oral motor assessment completed by the occupational therapist.

A written consult note is provided after the session to review what was discussed and recommendations given.

Meal observation and Coaching

Includes an observation of a family meal followed by consultation to review findings and recommendations related to environment, introduction of new foods, portion sizes, meal planning, mealtime struggles, and picky eating.

A written consult note is provided after the session to include all findings and recommendations.

Many health care plans provide an annual coverage for Dietitian services. If you are unsure if your plan covers Dietitian services or would like to check how much is covered, contact your health insurance company and/or review your health insurance policy.
